EN: As the project progresses I had several brainstorming sessions (see scans of the sessions for Minden below) finding what I already expected: it is hard to find hacking ideas that really fit into the scope or question of the Open Source and Circular City.

And I remembered what Jenni said, when we were preparing the City Hacking Academy Workshop for the students in Halle. “Let’s just ask them to redesign the campus as a Gym!” And she is right. With this task it is easy to come up with ideas. Just think about the things you can find in a gym and build those in the city or at the campus with the stuff you can find there.

And for city nature & urban ecology which is the question for Minden this works also quite well. What if the city were a forestry management, or a farm or horticulture business? Then it is just learning about the things going on there and bringing them to the city. I will try this in Minden tomorrow.

So the general simple formula is:

What if the city were X? Or: a place where you could/would do … X … ?

You have to pick an X, have a close look at it and you are good to go.

For city nature X = a forestry or a farm for example. But what is X for an Open Source Circular City?

A recycling facility? The Wikipedia? … ? ? ? There are no real good places for this nowadays, right? Quite obvious I play with “A modular construction toy kit” a lot – that is why I like the Heros toys and Lego so much. But what are other and maybe even more interesting X ?

Ok. That is something to think about for Viersen next week – suggestions for X are most welcome. For now let’s go to Minden.

X … macht?

What if X - c

Ok.
